Protection for Inbound Visitors

Introduction |

From November 2002, all travel agents carrying
on inbound travel business in Hong Kong are required by law to obtain
a travel agents licence and become members of Travel Industry Council
of Hong Kong (TIC), which is responsible for regulating the trade
practices of the industry. All licensed travel agents are abided
by the codes of conducts and directives issued by TIC. Overseas
travellers are advised to patronize a licensed travel agents for
their own interest protection. |

Refund Protection Scheme (Registered Shops) for Inbound Tour Group Shoppers |

Under the Scheme, group visitors who are taken to shops registered with TIC by their travel agents are entitled to a full refund if they are not satisfied with their purchases and make a refund request within six months (for mainland visitors) or 14 days (for overseas visitors) after purchase. Tour group shoppers seeking a full refund must produce the original receipt and return the purchased item, which must be undamaged and on which there must be no wear and tear because of use. Quality Tourism Services (QTS) Scheme administered by Hong Kong Tourism Board |

The QTS scheme is organised by the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) to help visitors find shops and restaurants they can trust. When you see this sign, you will know that these shops and restaurants have passed stringent annual assessments showing that they: |

Provide genuine products with clearly displayed prices; |

Display clearly product information and/or menus; and |
|
 |
Ensure superb customer service with front-line staff possessing extensive product knowledge so that they can answer questions efficiently. |
