Welcome to the Homepage of the Travel Agents Registry.

The Travel Agents Registry is responsible for the administration of the Travel Agents Ordinance (TAO) (Chapter 218). We aim to raise the standard of the trade through regulation of the agents. We strive to protect the interest of outbound travellers and inbound visitors, and enhance the reputation of Hong Kong as a tourist-friendly city.

This homepage aims to give you essential information about our organization, work, mission and values, performance pledges, highlights of the TAO and other aspects of our services. In addition, you will also be able to check online whether the travel agent you patronize is licensed.

We hope you will find this homepage informative and useful. We also welcome your suggestions and comments.

  1. To provide each of the licensed travel agents with a cash subsidy, directly proportional to the number of staff members they have, using a subsidy level (i.e. $5,000) per travel agent staff member as the basis of calculation. Travel agents without any staff will also be getting a one-off subsidy of $5,000; and
  2. To provide each travel agent's staff a one-off subsidy of $15,000.

Eligibility
  1. “Eligible travel agent”: a travel agent holding a valid travel agent licence (issued under the Travel Agents Ordinance (Cap. 218)) on 14 February 2020 (the day on which the Government announced the establishment of the Travel Agents Subsidy Scheme under AEF) and when the subsidy is disbursed under the Scheme of AEF 3.0.
  2. “Eligible travel agents' staff”: staff employed by an “eligible travel agent” on 31 March 2020.

Disbursement of Subsidy

For eligible travel agents and eligible travel agents’ staff who have received subsidy under the Travel Agents and Practitioners Support Scheme of the second round of AEF (AEF 2.0), no application is required. For eligible travel agents and eligible travel agents’ staff who have not applied for subsidy under the Travel Agents and Practitioners Support Scheme of AEF 2.0, they will be required to submit an application with documentary proof to the Travel Agents Registry on or before 27 October 2020.
